LAWTON – The Lawton Village Council at its Tuesday, April 8, council meeting, approved lighting updates at the Lawton Youth Baseball and Softball complex.
During Citizen’s Comments, Doug Lawrence, representing Lawton Youth Baseball and Softball, provided Lawton Village Council with some updates. He said on Saturday afternoon, April 26, opening day festivities will be held at the complex. He extended an invitation for Village Council President, Josh Appleby and President Pro-Tem, E. Dudek, to throw out the opening pitches.
Lawrence also said Lawton Youth Softball and Baseball is experiencing more vandalism at the site and asked the Lawton Village Police Department for more patrols. The organization also asked the village council’s approval to replace some lights in the parking lot and add lighting to the parking lots to help deter vandalism.
In another area, the village council approved a resolution in support of the transfer of a liquor license from Big T to The Breakfast Place, LLC.
The village council approved a quote from Lockmaster Security for $13,295 for cameras at the Lawton Village Hall and Reid’s Corner.
The village council approved a renewal of MML Liability for $39,444.
Lawton Village Manager Todd Hackenberg said Village Spring Clean-up will be held May 19-24, and Zoning Solutions will hand out flyers about Spring Clean-up to homes that have been listed for blight.
