The Saugatuck-Douglas District Library is thrilled to announce the return of its annual holiday book drive. Community members are invited to share the joy of reading by purchasing a book to be added to the Library’s shelves.
The Library has offered a digital version of this program in the past, but they are changing things up this year. Instead of working through a major online retailer, the Library is pleased to be partnering with a local independent bookseller. Cheryl Whitfield, the owner of The Book Nook, readily agreed to serve as the Library’s local vendor.
People who wish to participate should visit The Book Nook of Saugatuck and browse the “Adopt-A-Book” display. All books have been selected in collaboration with library staff. Books purchased from this collection will be delivered to the Library along with a special bookplate acknowledging the donation. Some people choose to inscribe the donated books in memory or in honor of friends or family members. For those who prefer shopping online, visit the Library’s website for a link to their digital wish list.
“We are always blown-away by the generosity of our community members and we want to celebrate this hometown spirit by keeping things local,” said Library Director, Ingrid Boyer. “Cheryl and the staff of the Book Nook have been wonderful to work with. They have gone out of their way to make this program a success.”
The “Adopt A Book” program will be up and running just in time for Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2024 and will continue through the end of the year. For more information, visit the Library’s website: www.sdlibrary.org.
