Local softball team 4-1 in Kentucky

MARION – Michigan Expos 18U team from Marion triumphed over Midwest Pride 18U in Kentucky on Wednesday in the USSSA Great Lakes Nationals tournament.
Michigan Expos 18U, coached by Ryan Raymond of Marion, took the lead late in the 7-6 victory over Midwest Pride 18U-Hedges. The game was tied 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth when Mattisen Tiedt, of Evart, singled, scoring one run.
Michigan Expos 18U got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Tiedt singled. Zoe Taylor, of Big Rapids scored after tagging up, and an error scored another run.
Midwest Pride 18U-Hedges scored six runs on four hits to take a 6-3 lead. Emily Ventrone, of Adrian College, had a two-run single.
Michigan Expos 18U scored three runs in the bottom of the second on a single by Malley Raymond, of Marion, a triple by Kyrah Gray, of Evart, and a ground out Zoe Taylor.
Tiedt was the winning pitcher for Michigan Expos 18U. Taylor also pitched for the Expos.
Michigan Expos 18U had nine hits in the game. Gray and Tiedt each had two hits for Michigan Expos 18U. Raymond, Emily Miller of Evart, Gray, Tiedt, Hayden Cutler of Reed City, and Taylor each drove in one run for Michigan Expos 18U. Gray stole three bases.
Ventrone, the No. 8 hitter for Midwest Pride 18U-Hedges, led the way with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 2-for-2.
