Luna named Good Citizen at SHS

The Amos Sturgis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), was proud to award Lexie Romero Luna (right) as its Good Citizen for 2025. Lexie received the award at the annual senior awards ceremony at Sturgis High School. This award is given to a deserving senior annually. It is awarded to an outstanding young person who exhibits the qualities of dependability, service to her/his community, leadership, and Patriotism.
Lexie wrote an essay entitled, “Service is an Essential Attribute of a Good Citizen”. She stressed the importance of how serving your community brings a sense of unity and trust to your community. She also stated that the beauty and importance of community is seen when a town pulls together to aid those in need and to generally maintain the common good.
Lexie was described as a young woman who goes above and beyond her peers in the areas of academics, community service, and personal character. She has been president of the Key Club for two years and has also participated in Student Senate. She is respected by her teachers as well as her peers. She plans on attending the University of Michigan, major in psychology, and eventually enter the pre-medical track.
Lexie was nominated for this recognition by her school counselor Courtney Patrick. Lexie’s local recognition will be sent to the state DAR to be considered for a college scholarship.
