Work continues on Main Street in Sturgis.
Concrete driveways and sidewalk on West Main was set for completion by mid-week, city engineer Barry Cox told Sturgis Sentinel.
Next, work commences on the road cross-section to remove bad soil and place a sand sub-base and aggregate material, in preparation for asphalt surfacing, Cox said.
The project initially was projected for completion before Halloween. It has gotten slightly behind schedule, Cox said, but should be finished close to that timeline.
“I expect the project to be completed in early November,” he said.
The Main Street project began shortly after a separate undertaking on North Nottawa Street for sewer pipe and water-main valve upgrades, which got underway in early September. That stretch opened to traffic late last week.
