MATTAWAN —- Mattawan’s varsity baseball team played this past Saturday at Novi vs Walled Lake Central and Novi. Mattawan tied WLC 7-7 and lost to Novi 2-0.
In Game 1 vs WLC:
Jake Vrba led the offense with two hits (a double and a single), and two RBIs in the first game on Saturday. Max Vanantwerp, Ben Koprolces, and Preston Shackelford also added hits for the Wildcats.
On the mound, Brody Houseman threw a strong three innings, striking out four guys, allowing no runs and two hits.
In Game 2 vs Novi Mattawan was held to three hits, Coleton Strong, Jake Vrba and Ben Koprolces had the lone hits for the Wildcats.
Liam Walsh and Max Vanantwerp both threw well allowing only two runs and four hits, but Mattawan could not string anything together and was shut out.
Mattawan is scheduled to host Berrien Springs on April 9 and will play at Three Rivers on April 10 and at Portage Northern on April 12.
The Mattawan softball team will be at home with Three Rivers on April 10 and home on April 15 with Portage Central.
