Mattawan splits Saturday games

MATTAWAN — Mattawan’s baseball team split with two teams on the road on April 4 in a doubleheader.
Mattawan is 2-2.
Novi won the first game 7-2 against Mattawan which won its second game against the Rochester Falcons 7-0.
Mattawan’s win over Rochester was fueled on five runs in the fouurth inning.
Liam Walsh hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Patrick Dougherty drew a walk, scoring one run. Patrick Dougherty had a walk, scoring a run and Nolan Jominy doubled home three runs.
Max Vanantwerp was the starting pitcher for Mattawan, allowing one hit and no runs over 4.1 innings, striking out six and walking one.
Nate Tandy opened the game for Rochester.
Nominee had two his and three RBIs for Mattawan. Patrick Dougherty and Jominey each stole multiple bases.
