McBain girls fall to Beal City

McBain lost both games 19-0, 15-0 to Beal City on Tuesday in Highland Conference softball action.
“The scores don’t reflect how the girls played,” McBain coach Chantel Zuiderveen said. “Beal City has great hitters who are smart in the box and on the base paths. You can’t make silly mistakes because they will capitalize on it, which is what they did. They are a fun team to play, always so positive. McBain never gave up and continued working really hard through both games, even though that can be tough at times. I’m very proud as a coach to see them push through.
“Emerson Tossey the pitcher hit a double. Aubrie Kamphouse the catcher threw out two base runners.”
McBain’s baseball team fell to 11-11 on Tuesday with 9-0 and 8-0 losses to Beal City, the defending state champions.
McBain;s baseball and softball teams play at Evart on May 17, at Pine River on May 20 and then at home on May 22 against Grayling and May 28 against Marion. The first two doubleheader are Highland Conference games. The next two are nonleague contests.
