The Mecosta-Osceola County Transit Authority (MOTA) is pleased to offer a new service for residents within the two-county region they serve, with non-emergency medical transport. Mobility Director Marsha Cornelius believes this is a great program that will help those without transportation to meet their medical needs, that include rides to and from pharmacies to fill prescriptions as well!
The program, that started in April of this year, provides that non-emergency transportation up to 100 miles from the service area, which is the outmost county lines for the two counties. They also travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan as well, to C.S. Mott’s Children’s Hospital, the University of Michigan, St. Joe Mercy, the Veteran’ hospital as well. They also travel anywhere between for veteran care, from Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Saginaw, Traverse City.
Cornelius told the Marion Press that they can try to make same day accommodations, although that is not always possible, but the longer the notice given, up to six months in advance, makes it the easiest. She also said drivers assist riders with all the help they would need to enter and exit the transit and are ready and willing to help!
This is a great addition to help those who require assistance with transportation to and from their doctor and/or therapy, and of course to help fill prescriptions! This is great for residents who don’t have a pharmacy in their town!
