Mike’s Musings: Stories that tickle your funny bone

Once in a while, when I have no other topic that peeks my interest, I like to scan stories I find interesting in other media. Here’s what my latest look see from stories I found to be odd, but interesting.
Headline- Owner of Europe’s largest collection of bedpans gets no relief after odd auction is a dud.
Mary Jacobs of England has a collection of 163 bed pans of all different sizes, colors and shaped. She decided to auction them off to the highest bidder but alas would be bidders pissed away their chances of owning a piece of history.
Headline- Huntington Woods woman dies in Mackinac Island bicycle-carriage crash
Having spent many days, weeks on Mackinac Island, I always thought it would be impossible to have a traffic-related death, but apparently there is always a first time. A woman was pronounced dead after her bicycle collided with a horse-drawn carriage.
Headline- Marijuana sellers can’t give out food from ice cream truck
In Ohio it is illegal you can’t mix selling marijuana and ice cream. Apparently five businesses tried the combination but were told to cease and fined $212,000. One of the dispensaries were offering free ice cream with your marijuana purchase. Another dispensary was fined heavily for using the slogan “Can you take me higher.”
Headline- Free meat for a year offered by JBS
An oldie but goodie, JBS, the meatpacker with offices in Michigan as well as many other places, decided to hold a vaccine sweepstakes. Essentially JBS gave away beef, pork and chicken to 50 U.S. families that participated in the company sponsored vaccine clinics. As an aside JBS came under fire during COVID because thousands of its employees fell sick working while processing meat.
Headline- Vermont lawmaker apologizes for repeatedly in her colleague’s bag
The victim was able to set up a video camera near her bag and captured the lawmaker on two occasions pouring water from a glass into the bag. The lawmaker apologized to her colleagues, but didn’t indicate why she did it.
Headline- Clearwater Threshers new bag dog becomes viral sensation after doing more relieving that retrieving
New bat retrieving dog was making her debut in a game against Dunedin last week. Instead of returning the bat to the dugout, the dog began touring the infield and decided second base was the best place for her to take a dump. Videos of the dumping dog made her an overnight sensation with millions of views.
Headline- Boy smashes 3500 year-old jar, museum invites him back
A curious 4-year-old accidentally smashed a 3500 year old jar while touring a museum in Israel. The jar dated back to 1500-2200BC, predating King Solomon and King David. The mortified father told the BBC that his first inclination was to claim it wasn’t his son who broke the jar.
Headline- French museum invites naturism exhibit visitors to disrobe
A French museum last week invited members of the public to view a new exhibit wearing nothing but a pair of shoes. Shoes are worn to avoid splinters. The exhibit features are created by naturist communities that have sprung up in Europe.
