Mills charged with mother’s death

Craig Michael Mills

A murder charge has been filed against a man in the death of his mother, who he lived with near Pullman, Allegan County Sheriff deputies say.
Craig Michael Mills, 23, faces a charge of open murder in the death of 43-year-old Mable Mills, who Allegan County deputies identify as his mother. On Sept. 19, she was found dead in her home in Lee Township when deputies went there for a welfare check
A manager at a local gas station where she worked had requested the welfare check because Mable Mills hadn’t been at work for two days. There were no signs of break-in at the home, deputies said at the time.
Craig Mills was arrested by Berrien County sheriff’s deputies two days earlier, “the day Mable Mills is believe to have been killed,” according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. He had been driving Mable Mills’ car and was involved in a crash. He resisted officers and was booked into the Berrien County Jail on charges related to the crash.
He continues to be held in Berrien County.
