Miss Alabama visits Chambers Academy

Miss Alabama Lauren Bradford visited Chambers Academy on Wednesday February 23rd . This was part of a monthly speaker series they do call “Real Life Wednesdays.”
School Counselor Emily Milford, “Miss Bradford spoke to our students about her experiences in life, highlighting her pageant platform (Unplug: a Digital Diet Plan.) Her speech informs students of the harmful effects of over usage of technology, not only with phones, but TVs and computers as well.”
Bradford explained to the students how technology has significantly hindered personal relationships between people, and she encouraged the students to limit themselves on their usage and start making conscious efforts to have more in person conversation.
Some of her suggestions were to turn your phones face down at the dinner table, take a weekend break from all technology and really enjoy the people around you, or simply set yourself a timer in the morning or at night to try and reduce the amount of time you sit and scroll on social medias.
Bradford also encouraged the young ladies to consider the pageant system as a means of paying for their college education, highlighting that her experiences had led her to graduate from Auburn University in three years, as well as have some of her graduate school at Vanderbilt University next year being paid for.
Lauren is a native of Gulf Shores, Alabama and placed First Runner-up to Miss America in December.
