The Coleman boys basketball team was able to hang around with host Montabella through the first quarter of the two’s Mid-State Activities Conference game Tuesday. The Mustangs proved to be too much from there however, as they handed the Comets a 71-39 setback.
Coleman trailed just 14-11 after one, but that hole turned into 32-21 at the half and 56-36 entering the fourth.
Trenton Risdon led the Comets with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals, Jared Devrieze added seven points and four rebounds and Connor Schrank had six points. Konner Carbeno and Ty Klopf added five and four rebounds respectively. Klopf also had two blocks.
Coleman (1-5 overall, 1-3 MSAC) heads to Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart on Saturday, plays in Merrill on Tuesday and hosts Carson City-Crystal on Thursday.
