Multiple weather-related traffic crashes reported throughout the county

PAW PAW – Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to numerous traffic crashes throughout the day Friday, Nov. 29, and continued throughout the evening. On Friday morning, at approximately 10, Sheriff’s deputies responded to Interstate- 94 near County Road 687, for a report of a car rolled over into a water filled ravine in the median.
Upon arrival, it was found that the driver of a Chrysler 300 had lost control, gone into the median, went through the cable barrier and guardrail and down into a ravine. The Sheriff’s deputy, along with other bystanders, got the driver out of the vehicle and used a rope to pull the driver up about 10 feet from the ravine. Sheriff Abbott said he was evaluated by EMS and released without injuries.
Sheriff Abbott said many crashes reported Friday were caused by drivers traveling too fast for conditions.
Sheriff Abbott reminds the public, “To please slow down on the ice- and snow-covered roadways.”
