New bald eagle monument placed at Veterans Park

Following its arrival on May 20, a bald eagle monument was permanently placed Monday morning, Nov. 18, at Maple City Veteran’s Memorial Park in Paw Paw. Placement of the monument was performed by Lounsbury Excavating, Inc., Paw Paw, who volunteered their services. The bald eagle monument joins seven other monuments in the park, including a Civil War soldier and Korean War soldier, World War I and II soldiers, a female combat soldier, a war on terrorism soldier, and a Vietnam War soldier. Members of the Paw Paw American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post 68, and well as Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Department members and others, also volunteered to help with the Monday project. The monument project began three years ago.
