Looking like big presents for a huge Christmas tree, Hayes Township’s new playground equipment has been delivered and the anticipation is thrilling!  As the weather continues to warm, construction will begin on the new playground leaving the  Hayes Township  Board of Trustees very excited about the work to begin, which was announced at their regular meeting held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.  Other items discussed include:
About 20 people turned up for the open gym this past Saturday and the surveys are gathered about gym hours.  Hayes Township Trustee  Rob McKay said he could continue to help  with every other Saturday for the gym.  Additionally, the board discussed making out a schedule to see if the gym could be open on Fridays and also early/late hours for those who work.  The board will work on a tentative schedule and make their decision on open gym hours at the April meeting.
Hayes Township Treasurer Savannah  Cavanaugh reported that Community Night last Thursday was well attended and the  activity  they did – rock painting – will end up being placed all over town.  There’s a Facebook page for the rocks where you can post a picture of your find and find another hiding spot for it.  She also reported that the Parks & Recreation Committee will be on April 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the township hall.
The board approved the bills for the month with a couple of additions: outdoor product for cemetery plates and a $500 order addition for bricks from Erskin Enterprise (which was approved by the board) on a motion by Hayes Township Clerk Debra Hoyt, supported by  Treasurer Cavanaugh.
There will be an MTA meeting for all Clare County elected officials on Tuesday, April 7th, at 6:30 p.m.
Hayes Township will be closed April 20th – April 27th
Both the township hall (for business) and the gym will be closed from April 20-April 27, when it will re-open.  The Hayes Township Board of Trustees will be attending the Michigan Township Association’s Annual Conference in Traverse City through Thursday, and on Thursday, the board will be in training with BS&A as the township “cloud” will go live on Thursday.  The extra days closed will allow any potential hiccups in the use of the cloud system to be worked through before the township offices reopen on Monday, April 27, 2026, at noon.
