NMC golfer advancing to state finals

MCBAIN – McBain Northern Michigan Christian took fifth in regional boys golf action last week.
Scorers for NMC were Titus Johns 83, Emmitt Baas 88. Dries Van Noord 89, Blair DeZeeuw 90 and Ty VanHaitsma 90.
Johns qualified for the state tournament which is this Friday and Saturday at the Meadows on Grand Valley State University.
“We fell a little short today as a team,” NMC coach Jeff VanNoor said. I am proud of the effort and grit that they showed all day, even when they weren’t playing their best. I am excited for Titus that he gets to compete next week at the state tournament. He has worked very hard and he deserves this opportunity.”

SOFTBALL

Marion’s softball season ended on May 31 at home with a 20-1 loss in three innings to Holton in a Division 4 district semifinal game. Holton went on to defeat White Cloud 10-0 in five innings in the title game and takes a 24-10 record into the regional tournament this week.
McBain saw its season come to an end in the Division 3 semifinal game 7-4 to host Manton, which lost to Pine River in the title game on Saturday.
