Andy Wilson Branham, of Allegan, passed away May 28 at age 89. He is survived by Arlene (Brown) Branham, his wife of 67 years and his daughter, Linda (Tim) Nielsen of Commerce Township, MI. He was a 1953 graduate of Allegan High School. Andy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953 and served in Korea for 18 months. He and Arlene were married in 1956, just days after his Honorable Discharge. They were very devoted to each other, and she eventually became his dedicated caregiver. He told everyone how much he appreciated and loved her. Andy worked at Rockwell International in Allegan and Iowa for many years until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, like his father and son. Andy spent many hours and many vacations camping and fishing. He was an active member of the Allegan United Methodist Church. He loved volunteering at the church’s Hands of Grace Food Pantry. He enjoyed being of service and the camaraderie with the other volunteers. He was down there almost daily when he was able, stocking, picking up groceries and unloading deliveries.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and his beloved son Randy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew (Shaye), David (Mandy), Steven (Rachel) and Allison Nielsen, Joshua (Courtney) Branham and Whitney (Patrick) Boomstra. He also had 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 1:00 at the Allegan United Methodist Church. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to the Allegan United Methodist Church “Roof Fund” or Wings Home, 330 Linn St, Allegan, MI 49010.
