Betty R. Haskell, 92, passed away peacefully at her home, Pioneer Golden Estates, on January 29, 2025. She was born August 16, 1932, in Auburn Heights, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd Bixby and Myrtle (Gardiner) Bixby.
As a teenager Betty moved to Harrison, where she attended Harrison High School, graduating in 1950. That is where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Ken Haskell. Betty was a dedicated mother and wife. She stayed at home with her five children until they were all in school, then went to work in the office at Harrison High School. She also helped manage the family business, Haskell’s Towing, with Ken. She later bought the local flower shop, which gave her an opportunity to share her creative talent as well as her love of plants and flowers.
Betty especially enjoyed family gatherings and excursions, playing cards, gardening, decorating, reading, and when she could no longer see, she switched to listening to books on tape. After retiring to Clare, Betty enjoyed traveling and spending winters in the Florida sunshine with Ken.
Betty is survived by: her children, Nancy (Mark) Ramsey; daughter in law Margaret Haskell; Jamie (Lori) Haskell; Dan (Beth) Haskell; Pete (Kandi) Haskell; grandchildren, Merri, Chris, Andy, Nick, Ty, Rob, Kate, Dustin, Nash, Collin, Ben, Kenny; and many great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by: her husband, Ken; her son, Tim; and her parents.
