Obituary: Catherine Ann Wilson

Catherine Ann Wilson, age 88, of Clare Michigan (formerly East Jordan, MI), passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 at North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell, MI. Catherine was born to Lawrence and Cecilia (Hesse) Schumaker on December 11, 1936 in Wamego KS. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Kansas in 1954. She waitressed at two restaurants in St. Mary’s KS where she met and later married Army SP2 Paul S. Wilson. They were married on June 12, 1955 and together they had 5 children; Kathleen (Jay) Marhofer of Stockbridge MI, Eileen Denhard of Howell MI, Douglas (Janette Henderson) Wilson of East Jordan MI, Charlene (Don) Merritt of Lake MI, and Marlene McKay (Ken Ingraham) of Farwell MI. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings Lorain (El Dana) Schumaker, Mary C. (Francis) Wehner, and Robert (Judy) Schumaker as well as her brother-in-law Eugene Michaelis and sister-in-law Mary Schumaker, all of her children, 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Cecilia Schumaker as well as her husband Paul S. Wilson, siblings Eugene (Mary) Schumaker, Lucille (David) Connell, Lawrence Schumaker, James (Delores) Schumaker, Elizabeth Michaelis, Raymond (Barbara) Schumaker, William Schumaker, son-in-law Dennis Denhard, granddaughter Haley Wilson, and great-grandson Trevor Martin as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loved family members. Her family remembers her as being a very hard worker, crocheter, gardener, farmer, cook and baker, fierce card and board game player, who loved crosswords, puzzles, and witty banter. She will be missed beyond measure and made a huge impact on those who knew and loved her. She was cremated per her wishes and there will be a gathering at 10:00 am and a mass at 11:00 am on February 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Clare MI. There will also be a small family gathering in the Spring at Dunsmore Cemetery in Antrim Twp. where she will join Paul in their final resting place. In lieu of flowers please make donations to MyMichigan Hospice in her namesake. Arrangements were handled by the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
