Cynthia Mae Smitko, 82, of Paw Paw, Michigan passed away peacefully July 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She had battled diabetes her entire life and finally succumbed to complications from the disease. Born in Chicago March 18, 1942, Cynthia spent her working years dedicated to God’s work as a Chaplain for the State of Michigan’s Department of Corrections. Her retirement was spent at her family’s beloved home on Maple Lake where she enjoyed watching lake activity, helping others and volunteering at the Senior Center. Most recently, Cynthia moved to Missouri to spend time with her brother Tom. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Isabel Smitko, her sister-in-law Diane and her cousin Barbara (Ron) Schultz. Cynthia is survived by her brother Tom Smitko, her niece Rebecca (Roland) Stone, her nephews Brian (Christine Rogan) Smitko, Brent (Sara) Smitko and her great nieces and nephews Aidan, Ethan, Erian, Alyson, Brianna, Nicholas, Parker, Riley and Dawson. Visitation will be at 3:00pm followed by a Funeral mass at 4:00pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 at Twelve Apostles Catholic Church 17900 Humprey’s Road Platte City, Missouri 64079.
