Obituary: David Ray Graham

David Ray Graham, age 74, of Lake, MI passed away on June 28, 2024, surrounded by his family at St Mary’s Hospital. 

Dave was born in Mt Pleasant on October 31, 1949. He was proceeded in death by his parents George and Betty Graham.

Dave is survived by his wife, Joanie of Lake, 3 children, Kevin (Janet) Graham of Cadillac, Craig (Carrie Donahue) Graham of Lansing, and Lori Jo (Todd) Duma of Lansing; and 4 Grandchildren, Austin and Shelby Duma, Katie and Miranda Graham, and brother, Virgil Graham; as well as many other loving family members and friends. 

Dave was a devout Christian and belonged to the Clare Church of the Nazarene.

Dave met Joan Crosby at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac, where he was working as an orderly and she was an LPN. They were married July 7, 1973.  They together built a loving home on Bass Lake.  They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage!

Dave was a family man and enjoyed spending time with their three children. He was always the teacher, and instilled a strong work ethic and modeled selfless service to others.


Dave and his family owned and operated Graham’s Furniture and Appliance in Downtown Clare for almost 40 years.  Once retired, Dave enjoyed his many hobbies including working with his tractor, fishing, painting and woodworking.  He loved being outdoors, and was always barefoot.  

In their retirement Dave and Joanie also enjoyed traveling.  Their favorite destination was Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge where they made many friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled at the Clare Church of the Nazarene on August 9th. Visitation will begin at 10:00, and tribute to his legacy at 11:00. Internment will be at Soper Cemetery in Manton. Memorial contributions may be sent to Right to Life of Michigan or Henry Ford Transplant.
