Obituary: Dr. Gene T. Miller

Dr Gene T. Miller, 85, of Chelsea, MI, formerly of Brooklyn, Grass Lake, and Paw Paw, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Legacy Assisted Living, Jackson, MI. He was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Detroit, MI, the son of George and Wilma (Lancaster) Miller.
Gene graduated from Paw Paw High School. He then earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, and his Doctorate of Dentistry from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He served as a dentist in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1962. Gene moved to Chelsea in 1972 and worked as a dentist in town until his retirement in 2001. He was an active member of the Chelsea Kiwanis Club. Gene enjoyed singing in the church choir, golfing, running, hiking, and traveling, especially with his children to Lake Michigan, and going to the “Blue Dog.”
On June 22, 1962, he married Mary Jo Paige, and she preceded him in death, Oct. 22, 1998. He married Katherine “Kay” Rose Cybulski, June 24, 2000, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Scott (Michelle) Miller of Colorado, Craig (Sue) Miller of St. Louis; one daughter, Karen (Frank) Miller of Cincinnati, OH; five step-children, Joseph Cybulski, Martin (Regina) Cybulski, Jeffrey (Linda) Cybulski, Marianne (Earl) Clay, Julie Bach; grandchildren, Caleb, Kaya, Jack, Grace; 14 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Judy) Miller; a brother-in-law, Bill Paige; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept 2, at 11 a.m. at Chelsea First United Methodist, with the Rev. Joy Barrett officiating.  The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel today (Thursday, Sept. 1), from 1 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
