Obituary: Elaine Kay Liechti-Yarling, 75

Elaine Kay Liechti-Yarling passed peacefully into the arms of our Heavenly Father on the 29th of March 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo following a short illness. Elaine was born on the 27th of June 1946 in Allegan to Maurice and Juanita (Commans) Liechti. She was a graduate of Allegan High School and Butterworth School of Nursing where she trained as a registered nurse. Following graduation, Elaine moved to Chicago where she worked at Michael Reese Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Mt Sinai Hospital. During her nursing career spanning 50-plus years, Elaine worked in critical care, trauma, nurse recruitment, nursing administration and employee health. Elaine married the love of her life, Roland (Rod) Yarling nearly 47 years ago on the 9th of August 1975 and was blessed with a son, Zachary Yarling. She was an animal lover and adopted her dog, Buckley, who was devoted to Elaine throughout her illness.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy Wynne. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Roland Yarling; her son, Zachary Yarlng; and her sister, Peggy Liechti; stepson, Matthew Yarling and his wife Tiffany along with their children, Maxwell and Leonard; nephews and nieces: Mark and his wife Kim; Scott; Ed and his wife Anne; September (Claire) and her husband Shane; great nephews and nieces: Taver, Brielle, Ethan, Callie, Llewellyn and Rowan; lifelong friends Trevah Dalrymple and Linda Wierenga.
In lieu of flowers, suggestion is for a memorial donation in Elaine’s name to the Wishbone Pet Rescue at the Allegan County Animal Shelter (P.O. Box 124
Douglas, MI 49406).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gorden Funeral Residence in Allegan where visitation will take place on Friday the 8th of April 2022 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Services will take place at the United Methodist Church, 409 Trowbridge Street in Allegan on Saturday the 9th of April 2022, at 11am. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery at the Liechti family plot. Luncheon to follow at The Barn, 1888 128th Avenue in Hopkins. Please join us as we celebrate her beautiful life.
