Ernest “Jerry” Reshman, 92, of Paw Paw, entered God’s space on Aug. 3, 2022, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, to Ernest and Hazel Reshman, the family of four moved to the Lawton farm in 1945, growing Concord and Welch’s.
After graduating from Lawton High School and Great Lakes, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the Aircraft Carriers Leyte and Oriskany from 1950 to 1954, as an aviation electronics specialist.
In 1957, he married Beverly (Stokes) Reshman, and raised two children and enjoyed life at their lake home for 58 years. After 65 years of marriage, Beverly passed away in May 2022.
Being a “people person” Jerry found joy in being a successful salesman. He co-owned and worked for Paw Paw Laundry and Dry Cleaner, Cushman and EZ Go Golf Carts, Clark-Yale, TCM Lift Trucks and Material Handling Equipment. Jerry viewed his customers as valued friends. In 1993, Jerry retired from sales and became assistant supervisor and then supervisor of Paw Paw Township until 2001.Jerry lived an interesting life and enjoyed boating, fishing, the Florida Keys, bowling and golf. He and Beverly traveled from Newfoundland to Hawaii, Alaska to the Caribbean and throughout the United States.
Surviving is his son, Mike (Carmel) Reshman; daughter, Ann Reshman; grandson, Joshua Reshman; one sister, Hazel (Paul) Kean; along with two sisters-in-law; four nephews and five nieces.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held later. Jerry will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
