Obituary: Faye Yvonne (Ten Brink) Cornell

Faye Yvonne (Ten Brink) Cornell, 86, of Holland, MI went in the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 8, 2024. Born in Grand Haven, MI on February 20, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Henry Willis and Henrietta (Klompaarns) Ten Brink. Faye grew up in Hamilton and Diamond Springs. After graduating from Allegan High School, she married Lewis “Lou” Edward Cornell on November 22, 1956 and they shared nearly sixty-four years together prior to his passing in 2020. Faye and Lewis lived in Allegan and were members of the First Baptist Church, Allegan where they were baptized. When they moved to Holland, they became members of Overisel Reformed Church, Holland.
Faye was a stay-at-home mom until the kids were older and then worked for Allegan Public Schools as a crossing guard and, later, as a school bus driver. She later worked for Delano Printing Service and when they moved to Holland she went to work for the Prins Corp/Johnson Control, where she retired. Faye was a hard worker who accomplished many tasks and loved to help others.
When she was not working, she loved crafting, gardening, canning, knitting beautiful sweaters or crocheting many afghans. Faye loved sitting outdoors visiting with everyone who stopped by and watching the many other birds at the feeder, especially the hummingbirds. Over the years she raised a couple of Poodles and Pomeranians. Mostly, Faye loved spending time with Lou, if it was sitting at Lake Michigan or if they were snowmobiling with family and friends. He was the love of her life.
Our thanks go out to the staff at Addington Place of Lakeside Vista and Careline Hospice for the love and care provided for mom. Our hearts and blessings go out to each of you!
Faye is survived by her children, Lester (Karen) Cornell and Roxanne (Eldon) Schans; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Ann Kessling, Carol Whitemeyer, Patricia (Donald) Rohbran, Henry “Butch” (Phyllis) Ten Brink, Kay (Ronald) Stewart and Jack Ten Brink; and several nieces and nephews.
