Obituary: Helen Winslett Tucker

Helen Winslett Tucker, 91, of Mobile, AL passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 28, 2022 in Bay Minette, AL. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 3 from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Radney’s Funeral Home on Industrial Parkway in Saraland, AL. A celebration of life service will immediately follow. On March 4 family and friends will gather at Jeff Jones Funeral Home in LaFayette, AL at 11:00am and process to the LaFayette Cemetery for burial. Arrangements are by Radney’s Funeral Home of Saraland, AL and Jeff Jones Funeral Home of LaFayette, AL. Helen was born in Camp Hill, AL to Hazel Fuller Winslett and Ulysis Jackson (UJ) Winslett on July 31, 1930. After graduation from Southern Preparatory School in Camp Hill, AL she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Wheeler Tucker on July 1, 1951. She was a Sunday School and Training Union Teacher at Springhill Baptist Church and an active, founding member of her beloved Sewing Bee. Helen’s life’s work was raising her daughters and, later, her pride and joy, her grandchildren, ensuring each grew to love the Lord she dedicated her life to serve. Through the years, she enjoyed mentoring other women through the Haven of Hope, an outreach through Springhill Baptist Church. She was happiest when serving others, making friends everywhere she went. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Charles Tucker, her mother, Hazel Winslett, her father, UJ Winslett, her sister, Frances Winslett Conn, and sister, Lorene Winslett Wilder. She is survived by daughters Pamela Frances Tucker Kirkland (Stanley H. Kirkland) and Barbara Carol Tucker Newman (Pat C. Newman), grandchildren Dr. Brandon Kirkland, Haley Harbaugh (Daniel Harbaugh), Bethany Boggs (Derek Boggs), Whitney Law (Orrin Law), and Sarah Marler (Jamie Marler), and great grandchildren Savannah Marler, Libby Boggs, Lane Boggs, Corbin Law, Tate Harbaugh, and Reid Law. The family wishes to extend our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Robert Israel, Dr. Barry Palizzi, Atria Regency Assisted Living, SAAD Hospice, Kindred Hospice, and her many devoted caregivers who she grew to love as her own family for their loving care and support.
