James J. Larson, age 71, passed away on December 6, 2024, after a months long battle with cancer. Jim was born in Kalamazoo on December 22, 1952, the second of three children born to David and Janet Larson. He moved to Plainwell as a toddler, and grew up there, graduating from Plainwell High School in 1971. While in high school, he played baseball, basketball, and tennis, reaching the state level in tennis his junior year. As a young man he enjoyed hanging out with his friends: canoeing, golfing, and sitting around a campfire drinking beer. Later on he enjoyed taking care of his yard, and watching his boys play by the pool, again with beer in hand. In his later years Jim was somewhat of a homebody, hanging out with his wife, Peggy at their home in Parchment. Jim is survived by his wife Peggy, and three sons and their families: David (Jane) and their children Nathan and Mikayla; James and children Izzy, Charlotte and Viktor; and Joe(Kristi) and their son Mason, as well as sisters Mary and Linda.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service.
