Jim Tamblyn surrendered life peacefully on Sept. 15 at age 69, due to complications of pancreatic cancer, in his home in Douglas.
He was born in 1953 in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and raised in Green Bay and Milwaukee, Wisc. From a very early age, Jim developed an intense passion for Rolls-Royce and Bentley autos, studying their history through the years, and eventually collecting both throughout his life.
He was an avid member of the Rolls Royce Owners Club and founded the Lake Michigan region of Lambda Car Club in Chicago. In both, Jim enjoyed close relationships with many other Rolls-Royce owners and was a popular figure throughout the club’s presence nationwide.
In addition he founded the Friends of Charles group (within the R-R Owners Club) which continues to thrive today at annual meets.
Both he and his life partner of 41 years, Bill Muzzillo, lived and worked in Chicago until 2005, when they retired and moved permanently to Douglas. One of his great pleasures was to work at Saugatuck Traders for many years until his health failed.
In addition to his partner Bill, Jim is survived by his sister Laurie Tamblyn, of Marinette, Wisc. A Celebration of Life dinner will be announced at a future date.
In lieu of flowers or cards, memorial contributions can be made to the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, 191 Hempt Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
