Jane Feldott, 101
Jane K Feldott (née’ Keith), 101, widow of Joseph R. Feldott, passed away following a brief illness on May 5, 2024 in Douglas.
She was born to Gilbert and Madeleine Keith on Nov. 17, 1922 in Hinsdale, Ill., where she lived for over 70 years. She and her husband were graduates of Hinsdale High School in 1940.
She and her husband were married on July 15, 1944. They went on to have 3 sons, Keith, Terry, and Kevin. Jane was a secretary and bookkeeper before her retirement.
In 1967 she and her husband were fortunate to acquire a Lake Michigan-front cottage built in the 1930s. The “Cottage” was a fun place to visit seasonally until 1997 when the Cottage was winterized, and Jane and Joe made it their permanent home. After her husband’s death in 1999 she continued to live there alone for the next 25 years until her death.
Jane found pure happiness in walking the beach and finding beach glass and outdoor rocks; cooking for friends and family; playing tennis and golf; giving parties and participating in Evergreen Commons activities such as line dancing and art classes. At 80 years of age she learned the art of watercolor and produced lovely paintings in the last two decades of her life.
She was a fixture at the What Not Inn (fondly known as the Country Club of Fennville). The owners even named a cocktail after her. If you ever want a fine screwdriver, go to the What Not and order a “Jane Feldott.”
Her 100th birthday party brought together her entire family including 15 great grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her eldest son, Keith (Jani), middle son, Terry (Barbara), and daughter-in-law Cindy; 4 grandsons (Chris, Brad, Brian, and Ryan).; 3 granddaughters (Jennifer Hall, Kasey Godek and Kelli Feldott), above mentioned 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Gilbert and Kenneth, husband Joseph, and son Kevin.
A private internment will be held in Oakbrook, Ill. next month. A Celebration of Life will be held in Michigan in the fall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in care of Keith Feldott, 1730 Lakeshore Drive, Fennville, MI 49408.
