Janet Marie “Jan” Taylor age 81 of Harrison, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Janet was born the daughter of Edward Joseph and Ida Carrie (Clark) Menke on Tuesday, November 23, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan. Jan graduated from Webberville High School in 1961. She furthered her education with a degree in nursing, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse Degree from Lansing Community College in 1964. On April 9, 1965 Jan was united in marriage to Mr. Roderick James “Rod” Taylor in Webberville, Michigan. Rod preceded Jan in death on August 8, 2021 after fifty-six years of marriage.
Mrs. Taylor had resided in Harrison since 1983, moving from Brighton, Michigan. Jan, Rod and their children built their dream log home over the course of a few years. She was a Registered Nurse for numerous years with a passion to care and heal others. Jan was very strong in her faith and love of God.
Surviving Jan are her three loving children; Scott Taylor and wife Mindy of Harrison, Stephen Taylor and wife Sarah also of Harrison and Kerri Recker-Taylor of Clare, Michigan, eight grandchildren; Russell Taylor and wife Whitney, Benjamin Taylor, Zachary Taylor and wife Britney, Travis Taylor, Bailey Taylor-Gould, Jacob Recker, Grace Taylor and Ava Taylor, one great-granddaughter, Cecelia Taylor, two daughters -in-law; Danielle Gould and husband Dave of Clare and Dana Taylor of Harrison, one sister-in-law, Joanne Menke of Williamston, Michigan, one brother-in-law, Gary Simmons of Henderson, Nevada, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Jan also was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Brian Taylor and Christopher Taylor, two brothers; Richard Menke and James Menke and one sister, Doris Simmons.
Funeral services honoring Jan will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, with Mr. Josh Lator officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Graveside committal will immediately follow funeral services at Pleasant Plains Cemetery-Harrison.
