Obituary: Jean A. Hensell

Jean A. Hensell, age 77 of Centreville, died Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Edgewood Health & Rehabilitation in Three Rivers surrounded by family. She was born January 16, 1948 in Vicksburg, a daughter of Nolan and Betty (Hovarter) Bailey. Jean attended Centreville Schools and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1966. On January 16, 1971 she married William A. Hensell at Centreville United Methodist Church.
Jean, along with Bill, owned and operated their family farm, Superior Dairy Farms in Centreville from 1971 to 2015. Jean served on the Centreville School Board from 1982 to 1993 and was a member of the Holstein Association. She enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting, bowling and dancing. She also was an avid softball fan especially when her daughters were playing. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, who cherished her family.
Surviving are her husband William Hensell, Centreville; daughters Kimberly Hensell, Centreville, Teresa Troyer, Centreville, Paula Hensell, Three Rivers, Jacqueline Ward, Portage; grandchildren Samantha Troyer, Alyssa (Jeremy Lambert) Davis, Nolan Troyer, Makayla Johnson, Katrina Rios and Jordynn Ward; great grandchildren Jaela Holmes, Romeo Myles and Kasai Johnson; sister Judi Sadewasser, Grand Ledge; brothers William Bailey and Steven (Karen) Bailey, both of Sturgis; brother in law Jack (Susie) Hensell, Constantine; sister in law Christy (John) Friedel, Mendon; her fur baby Lucy, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in law Harold and Pollyanna Hensell, sister in law Rebecca Bailey, brothers in law Steve Sadewasser, Gene Hensell and Thomas Hensell.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 4 to 7 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Centreville. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, with Christy Friedel officiating.
