Obituary: Jean Haynak

Jean Haynak, age 84 of Clare, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 20, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family.  On December 14, 1939, Jean was born one of six children to Dewey and Elenor (Thering) Wood at their family home in Clare.  She was united in marriage to her loving husband Richard “Dick” Haynak on August 23, 1958, and together they shared sixty-six wonderful years of marriage and the joy of raising their four children together.  Family was the center of Jean’s life, and she left it fully knowing how truly blessed and loved she was by them.  She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Jean is survived by her husband Dick Haynak and three children Dewey (Kim) Haynak, Kim (Boot) Mashue, and Kelly (Larry) Edwards.  She is also survived by eight cherished grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her sister Linda (Tom) Jones.  Jean was preceded in death by her son Richard “Dickie” Haynak, Jr., her grandson Casey Haynak, her brothers Bill, Vern, and Clair “Snick” Wood, and her sister Margie Koos.

In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private graveside service will take place in her honor at the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery of Clare, where she will be laid to rest by her loved family members at a date yet to be determined.  In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions for Jean, her family has encouraged friends to stop in and visit a cherished memory with her husband Dick.  Online condolences may be shared with her family on Jean’s tribute page at www.stephenson-wyman.com
