Obituary: Jean M. Schiemann

Jean M. Schiemann, age 85 of Clare, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Horizon Senior Living Center of Clare. She was born November 9, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, MI., daughter of the late H.O. and Rose (Sheahan) Beutler. Jean graduated from the Sacred Heart Academy of Mt. Pleasant, MI. in 1957. On July 8, 1962, Jean married James Ostrowsky. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1988. Jean and Jim loved to dance and had many fun times attending Polka Festivals and fishing. On November 20, 1999, Jean married Walter Schiemann, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2024. Jean and Walt lived in Kinross and wintered in Texas for many years where they enjoyed riding their motorcycle with friends. Jean retired from the State of Michigan after thirty-five-plus years of service.
Jean is survived by her sister, Elayne Watson, her stepchildren Lonnie, Walt Jr., and Lettie, and her nieces and nephews, Gayle Gianino, Peggy Prew, Angie Skiba, Jim Gardner, Chris Gohlke, Jan Carroll, Rita Doneth, Jay Watson, and Guy Watson. She is also survived by her special niece-in-law Shelli Watson. Jean was preceded in death along with her parents and husbands, by her sisters Marion Howe and Elizabeth (Betty) Lee, her niece Doris Watson, and nephews Daniel Gardner and Matthew Gardner.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will take place in the summer of 2025 at the St. Henry’s Catholic Cemetery of Rosebush, where she will be laid to rest with family.
