Joanne Ruth Cassel, most recently of Avon, Indiana, passed away on August 11, 2024. Joanne was born at home during a blizzard on February 11, 1936 in Constantine, Michigan to Albert and Wanda Flick, graduating from Constantine High School in 1955. She spent most of her adult life in Three Rivers, Jones, and Constantine (with a few years in South Carolina, Indianapolis, and California). She worked on farms, as a nursing assistant, a factory worker, and baked the most amazing professional cakes. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and two sisters, Mildred Klinedinst and Frances Collins. She is survived by daughter Cindy Arnold of Mears, Michigan, son Rodney (Amy) Arnold of Covington, Indiana, son Dale (Robyn) Young of Avon, Indiana, and son Kirk (Heather) Cassel of Three Rivers, Michigan, along with grandchildren Becki (Bud) Greenman, James (Jamie) Tootle, Sam (Viola) Tootle, Lindsey (Caleb) Daulton, Nichole (Ian) Peterson, Jocelyn Young, Kayla (Antwuan) Lang, Brittany (Jamie) Mcalister, Ashlee Singlar, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside ceremony will be held at Shavehead Cemetery in Jones, Michigan on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 1:00 pm with a gathering held afterward at Venue 132 in Dowagiac, Michigan.
