Joyce May VanDeusen age 94 went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2024. Joyce was born March 26, 1930 in Eagle Township, Clinton County, Michigan the daughter of Orville A. Jones and Gladys Pearl (Gilmore) Jones. Joyce graduated from St. Johns High School in 1947. Joyce was united in marriage to Mr. Richard “Dick” VanDeusen on March 20, 1964 in Lansing, Michigan. Dick preceded Joyce in death on August 30, 2013 after forty-nine years of marriage. Joyce had resided in Farwell since 1979, moving from DeWitt, Michigan.
Mrs. VanDeusen was the co-owner and co-operator of DJ’s Lounge of Farwell for twenty years, co-owner and co-operator of the Surrey House Restaurant of Harrison for over eight years, and was a deli worker at Witbeck’s Family Foods of Clare for several years. Joyce enjoyed spending her time away from work going to area yard sales, where she was always on the hunt for table clothes and table runners. Joyce was passionate about cooking, whether for her family or friends or customers. She also enjoyed sewing, bird watching, playing cards, and pen and ink painting.
Surviving Mrs. VanDeusen are her six loving children; Dale Calder and wife Katheryn of Weidman, Michigan, Don Calder and wife Linda of Lake Wales, Florida, Ron VanDeusen and wife Michelle of Spring Hill, Florida, Theresa Shepard of East Lansing, Michigan, Liane Noyce and husband Todd of DeWitt and Kelli Bridgett and husband Cleland of Lake, Michigan, seventeen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren and one arriving soon, two great-great grandchildren, one sister, Barb Cox and husband Jack of St. Johns, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Joyce also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerry VanDeusen, one daughter, Sharon Bovan, two great-grandchildren, one son-in-law, Rod Shepard and one brother, Arnold Jones.
Funeral services honoring Mrs. VanDeusen will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Clark-Campbell Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 408 West Main Street, Farwell, with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Visitation for Joyce will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Clark-Campbell Funeral Chapel and on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Surrey Township Cemetery, Farwell. A luncheon and time of reflection will be held at Clark-Campbell Funeral Chapel immediately following graveside services.
