Kathleen Ann (Fischer) Scovill, known by everyone as Kathy, passed away unexpectedly on August 1st, 2024, at the age of 66, in Fennville, Michigan. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard & Dorothy Fischer; brother, Steven Fischer; and brother-in-law, Chris Tisheuar. Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Bill; children, Tracy (Max) Masters and Tom Scovill; grandchildren, Maggie Masters and Bennett Masters; siblings, Daryl Fischer, Barb Fischer and Theresa Tisheuar; and parents-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Scovill.
In her professional life, Kathy’s commitment to public service was evident through nearly a decade of dedicated work at the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office and Allegan County Circuit Court. Her passion for helping others continued when she and Bill took over Chappell Funeral Home. For the next 26 years, they served their community with compassion and grace, helping countless families during their times of greatest need. After retiring from funeral home ownership, Bill and Kathy spent their winters down in Atoka, OK. Kathy’s love for animals, especially horses and her dogs, was a source of immense joy and comfort throughout her life. She relished the thrill of team roping, a testament to her adventurous spirit. Those who knew Kathy will fondly remember her for her friendly spirit, kindness, and love for baking & crafts.
A graveside service will be held in Kathy’s honor at Fennville Cemetery, on Tuesday, August 6th at 11am, Rev. Marcia Tucker presiding. Visitation will be held at Chappell Funeral Home, 637 W. Main, Fennville, MI, on Monday August 5th, from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm.
