Obituary: Kathryn Marie “Kitty” Tharp

Kathryn Marie “Kitty” Tharp, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 95.
Funeral Services for Kitty will take place at Clark-Campbell Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ray Francis officiating. Interment will follow in the Surrey Township Cemetery. A Luncheon will follow at the Farwell United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, November 26, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Care Team Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Kitty or Miss Kitty as she was known to family and friends was born on November 27, 1928, to Arthur and Beatrice (Dillion) Smith of Lake. She attended Grade School at Lake and High School at Farwell, graduating with the class of 1947. She married Raymond Tharp on September 30, 1950, and together they ran Tharp’s Refrigeration for about 30 years until Ray passed away in 1981. To this union two sons, Arthur (Jackie) Tharp of Farwell and Mark Tharp of Farwell. Kitty was a member of the Farwell United Methodist Church, a member of the Rebekah Lodge, member of the Lake Eagle Auxiliary #3761, the Farwell VFW Auxiliary.
Kitty was proud to be a grandmother to three granddaughters, Sheila (Edward) Brickner, Rhonda (Jack) Gibson, and Stephanie (CJ) Steinert; great-grandmother to Collin, Nathan, Evan, Joshua, Jordan, Justin, Cassidy, Kacey, and Megan; and many great-great-grandchildren. Kitty was proud to be a great-grandmother and extra proud to be a great-grandmother to twin girls.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Ruth Aumilller and Eunice Harwood.
