Lana Sue Eberhart, age 72 of Clare, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1 at the Prestige Center Assisted Living Home of Mount Pleasant, MI. On May 15, 1951, Lana was born one of three children to Lloyd “Junior” and Audrey (Musser) Eberhart, Jr. in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Lana was a lifelong resident of Clare, and a graduate of the Clare High School Class of 1969. Following high school, Lana attended Central Michigan University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in education before accepting an offer to work in the CMU admissions office—a choice that blossomed into a 30-plus year relationship. In her free time, Lana enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, reading, and spending time with her family. In her younger years, Lana enjoyed bowling, and was never one to shy away from a good margarita.
Lana is survived by her brother Butch (Cheryl) Eberhart of Clare, her nieces Kari Bauer, Leslie (Mike) Franklin, Christine (Joseph) Smith, and Jennifer (Sam) Castiglione, and her nephews Todd Eberhart and Troy (Erika) Eberhart. Other survivors include her numerous great nieces and nephews. Lana was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Jr and Audrey, her sister Linda Schafer and her daughter Allison Eberhart.
A funeral service in honor of Lana will take place on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery of Clare. Friends may visit with the Eberhart family at the funeral home on Sunday, May 5th from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
