Maria Elizabeth DiPrima, 74, of Lawrence, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. She was born March 30, 1950, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of John Modica and Anne (Sovish) Modica.
Maria had many talents and hobbies throughout her life. She worked at her family’s Auction House in Chicago, where she got interested in antiques. She was an antique expert and owned many gorgeous pieces. She found many pieces at garage sales or thrift stores, which was a favorite pastime of hers. Maria was also a master in culinary and her cooking was the best! She dedicated many years to Goodwill for Southwest Michigan as the regional manager and truly loved working there and meeting new people. Maria loved her pet macaw, Julius, and her presence will be deeply missed by him.
Surviving to carry on her legacy are her three sons, Aaron, Joseph and John DiPrima; brothers, John S. (Dorothy Ann) Modica and Robert J. Meitzel.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Modica.
Family and friends are invited to visit today (Thursday, Dec. 19) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Maria will be laid to rest on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Prospect Cemetery, Lawrence.
