Michael “Mike” Carl Mayfield age 65 passed peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 surrounded by his family at MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland. Michael was born March 20, 1959 in Cadillac, Michigan the twin son of Keith O. Mayfield and Shirley Anna (Freimuth) Mayfield. Mike graduated from Harrison Community Schools in 1977. Mr. Mayfield was united in marriage to Ms. Rosemarie Reynolds on June 30, 1990 in Clare. Mike had resided in Harrison a majority of his lifetime with the exception of a few years spent in Tennessee for work.
Mike was a long-time drag racer, race car builder, collector of classic cars and mentor to young racers starting out. He enjoyed any outdoor activity that had a motor, went fast and allowed him to be outdoors. Mike was a hunter, fisherman, sports enthusiast and supporter of his grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. Mike enjoyed many years of fly in fishing trips to Canada and over nineteen trips to Jamaica with his wife for much needed vacations. Mike was a free spirit, jokester and story teller, always bringing a smile and laugh to those listening.
Surviving Mike is his loving wife of thirty-three years, Mrs. Rosemarie Mayfield of Harrison, his son, Klint Bailey and wife Kristie of Clare, four loving grandchildren; Paige Bailey, Preston Bailey, Alyssa Murray and Kyle Bailey, one sister, Deborah Schneider and husband Jim of Gunter, Texas, two brothers; Randall “Randy” Mayfield and wife Pamela of Harrison and his twin, Mark Mayfield and wife Karen also of Harrison, many nieces, nephews, close friends and his fur babies, Buster, Bode and Amber. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sara Teschner and nephew, Luke Teschner.
Funeral services honoring Mike will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service with Rev. Kelly Morley officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial gifts in memory of Mike may be considered to the Mayfield Family, in care of: Rosemarie Mayfield.
