Obituary: Ray Duane Bonnell

Ray Duane Bonnell, 74, of Paw Paw, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Chicago, the son of Ray Duane Bonnell and Loretta (Ricci) Bonnell.
He grew up in Hinsdale, IL, and attended Hinsdale Central High School.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked in the Chicago area as a carpenter for many years. He was an avid golfer, starting at age 14 as a caddy. He raised two sons, Christopher and Benjamin.
Ray married his wife, Bernice, in 2010, and relocated to Paw Paw. He was a member of Lake Cora Golf Course and the American Legion Post 68.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; his two sons, Christopher (Katherine) Bonnell of Oswego, IL, and Benjamin Bonnell of Naperville, IL; sister, Joann McHugh of Oregon, IL; and three grandchildren, Gavin, Henry and Jacob Bonnell.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Nicholas Henry.
Family and friends were invited to visit Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen officiating.
