Robert E. Waychoff, 89, AKA “Stoney Burke” was born June 18, 1935 in Washington, PA. Dad didn’t graduate, he had to go to work to support his mom and younger siblings. He was a Marine from beginning to end and served in Korea. He moved to Michigan in 1959 where he was a truck driver, garbage man, utility line worker, had ran some of the first cable lines in Allegan and worked for the Allegan County Road Commission until retirement. He was mostly known as the locksmith guy.
Dad is finally back with mom almost one day to the year of her passing. He married mom November 25, 1962 and they lived in the same home on Bond Street until the end; home to so many adopted sons and daughters, my friends always welcomed. He was called Pop, Paw, Old Man, even Old Poop. And Dad.
He leaves behind his son, Robert T. “Buzz” Waychoff’ granddaughter, Bri and Clayton Wilson (Wade, Jocelyn and Ivan; grandson, Johnny “Jake” Waychoff and Jen and the light of his life, Gunner. Also surviving are one sister, Mickey Coe; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews from mom’s side of the family, especially including the Green family from the old neighborhood.
Thank you to everybody who helped care for Dad and myself and a special thank you to Laura, Ernie and Cheryl. Love you all – Dad and Buzz
