Sally McKay Kutil, age 90, passed away in Waterford Township, Michigan on November 7, 2024. Sally was born in Birmingham, Michigan on October 14, 1934. She attended Seaholm High School in Birmingham and went to the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she met her husband of 70 years, Donald Howard Kutil.
After following her husband Don along the California coast while he served as an officer in the United States Navy, they both decided to make their home in Michigan so they could be closer to Sally’s family and their ranch in Clare, Michigan. They bought an old house on a lake in Waterford Township, Michigan and Sally used her unique gift of creating and decorating to transform their house into her dream home.
Sally loved the outdoors, especially gardening. She also loved spending time at the McKay Ranch in Clare and in the Colorado mountains skiing and hiking with her family. She and Don enjoyed traveling, visiting many different countries including Europe, Russia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia.
Sally is survived by her husband Donald Kutil, her children Pamela Byrd (Jerry Byrd), Jim Kutil (Patty Kutil) and Cindy Kutil, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held in Clare, Michigan.
