Obituary: Truman J Glenn

Truman J Glenn, formerly of Clare, passed away March 7, 2022 at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt Pleasant. He was born June 2, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Truman and Eleanor Glenn. Truman  moved to Detroit as a child. He graduated from Redford High School in 1944 at the age of 16.  The next year he was drafted into the army and served two years in Los Almos, New Mexico with the US Engineer Corp Army. After the service, he returned to Detroit, where he met Marilyn Koeller, the love of his life, at Palmer Park Riding Stables where he gave riding lessons. He then moved to East Lansing to attend Michigan State University where he received a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University in Food Technology. Truman married Marilyn, who had just finished her Registered Nurse training, on September 18, 1948 in Detroit. They moved to Kalamazoo where Truman worked for Borden’s Dairy, then to Detroit to work for Wilson’s Dairy. In 1953 they moved to Clare where Truman managed Thayer Dairy. All those years Marilyn continued her nursing in each city. He retired in 1986. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed many years with family and friends at his hunting camp, Bear Swamp Hunt Club north of Clare. He hunted numerous times out west in Wyoming and Montana. He was a hobby  bee keeper and enjoyed passing on his labor of love…sweet honey. He and Marilyn traveled extensively to all corners of the world for many years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn, his oldest child Stuart, and his youngest child, Brian. Family survivors include his daughter Pamela (and Mike) Gordon, grand daughter Jessica Gordon Nakfour (Amin), and great grand daughter Nadine Nakfour,  grandson Christopher (and Amy) Glenn, grand daughter Amanda Glenn ( great grandchildren  Shayne Glenn (and Myra) and their son Atlas (great great grandson), grandsons Luke Glenn and Nolley Taylor, grandson Ryan Glenn, and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A family memorial service will be planned at a later date.  O’Laughlin Funeral Home, Inc is assisting the family with arrangements.
