Virginia Mae Stimac, 97, a longtime Paw Paw resident, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022. She was born June 21, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of John DePierre and Bernice (Olsted) DePierre.
In 1947, she moved to Paw Paw with her family. She was united in marriage to the late John Stimac and the couple had three children, John P. (Marie) Stimac and Rosemary (late Ron) Stoynoff.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Stoynoff and Kristin (Troy) Holmes; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Ryan and Justin Holmes, Beck and Rourke Stoynoff; her sister-in- law, Marlene DePierre; and lifelong friend, Muriel Sheasby.
Virginia was preceded in death by her son, David Stimac; and brothers, Jack and Robert DePierre.
Virginia was a longtime parishioner at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, where she was a dedicated volunteer for funeral luncheons at the church. She also donated her time to the American Red Cross. Over the years she enjoyed her time working for La Cantina Ristorante Italiano, Duo-Tang and Lake View Community Hospital. Above all, family was most important to Virginia.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where a sharing of memories will be held at 5 p.m. Immediately following, there will be a time of food and fellowship held at the funeral home.
