Obituary: William L. Comer

FEBRUARY 19, 1936 – FEBRUARY 11, 2025

            William L. Comer age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Pioneer Golden Estates of Clare. William was born February 19, 1936 in Clare, Michigan the son of Phyllis I. (Wasson) Comer and Roy B. Comer. William was a graduate of Clare High School, Class of 1954. Mr. Comer was united in marriage to Ms. Myra Lee Albee on September 22, 1956 in Midland, Michigan. Mrs. Comer preceded William in death on October 21, 2022, after sixty-six years of marriage. Mr. Comer had resided in Prudenville, Michigan since 2018, moving from Harrison and previously from Clare.

            William was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harrison Branch for many years, he was one of the original members when the church was established. He took his church responsibilities very seriously and was always there to help families in need. William was also a founding member of the Clare City Police Auxiliary, under the supervision of Mr. Ellery Tice. He enjoyed trout fishing, deer and pheasant hunting, wild berry picking and playing cards. William was an avid reader and was proud of his extensive home library. He loved the constitution and was a very proud American. He loved his Lord and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, which he and his wife Myra, passed along to their children and grandchildren. His belief that families are eternal gave him great comfort.

            Mr. Comer is survived by his three loving children; Scott Comer and wife Clarissa of Houghton Lake, Michigan, LeeAnne Comer of Houghton Lake and Marlaina Garcia and husband Froy of Menasha, Wisconsin, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert Carrow and wife Rose of Athens, Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Mr. Comer also was preceded in death by his parents, two sons; William “Bill” Roy Comer and Bryan Dean Comer and one brother, Terry Carrow.

            Funeral services honoring Mr. Comer will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison, with President O. David Rogers officiating. Visitation will be taking place on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Monday, February 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare.
