Family, friends, employees, and the manufacturing community grieve the loss of a
wonderful man and a true pioneer in the bonded magnet industry. On the morning of
January 5, 2022, William Roger McPherson passed away quietly from natural
causes. Roger was born on September 1, 1946 in Plainwell, Michigan, the third child to
Bernard C. Sr. and Hazel McPherson. He lived his entire life in Otsego, Michigan. His
contributions to his family, community and the magnetics industry will be greatly missed.
He was recognized worldwide as the creator of a unique type of injection bonded
magnet technology. Many millions of magnets continue to be produced in a factory in
Otsego, Michigan that ship across continents and make an impact to many diverse
industries. Roger served as President of Tengam Engineering, Inc. and as Chairman of
the Board after his retirement. Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda and his
beloved children, Analyssa McPherson and Mark McPherson both of Otsego. He is also
survived by his grandchildren Collin, Seth and Mya McPherson, his sister Melinda Kling
and his brother Tim McPherson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
brother Bernard Jr. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with Roger’s family
from 4-7 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, with
a time of sharing starting at 6:30 PM. To honor Roger’s life, please consider a
