Otsego baseball falls to K-Central

KALAMAZOO—The Otsego baseball team squared off with Kalamazoo Central in a non-conference twin bill on Monday, April 21, and came up short in both contests.
The Bulldogs dropped the opener 11-1 before suffering the 13-2 defeat in the nightcap.
In game one, Jaydon Watson had an RBI double to account for Otsego’s lone run. Landon Wrobleski also doubled.
Watson also had an RBI in the second game, as did Kyle Holladay, who doubled.
The Bulldogs hosted Marshall for a non-league doubleheader on Thursday, April 17, and earned the split.
Otsego dropped the opener 13-3 before bouncing back to take the second game 6-5.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs fell behind 5-0 in the top of the first inning. But Otsego plated two runs in the first inning on a double by Ryan Cockerel and added three runs in the second—including a two-run double by Scotty Durr—to knot the score at 5-5.
An RBI single by Matthew Jackson in the bottom of the fifth inning provided the winning run.
Cockerel was credited with the win thanks to two innings of scoreless relief work.
Durr had two singles in the opener, while Cockerel had a triple.
On Tuesday, April 15, Otsego traveled to Edwardsburg for a Wolverine Conference twin bill and came up one run short in each game, falling 4-3 in game one and 6-5 in game two.
Cockerel collected three hits in the second game and drove in three runs.
