“Believe nothing that you hear, and only one half that you see.” -Edgar Allan Poe
I have a very curious mind. Lately, I’ve been wondering about what happens in the dryer when you dry a load of laundry. After each drying load, I have to clean the lint drawer before putting in the next load. The lint comes from my t-shirts, I’m sure. I’m curious about how many times will I be able to dry my t-shirts, before they don’t exist anymore? After a while they should all turn into lint and will end up in the waste basket. Perhaps I should take a tee shirt and keep putting it through drying cycles until the shirt doesn’t exist anymore. Is there anyone out there who wonders the same thing?
Next week, Three Rivers will be celebrating the 2025 Water Festival. This three-day event kicks off Thursday, June 12 with the Water Festival parade at 7 p.m. This 90-minute parade is made up of entries which will interest every member of the family. The rain-day for the parade is Friday, June 13 at the same time.
There are plenty of activities over this three-day festival. If you love car shows, you’ll want to make sure and come downtown and check out the classic cars on display right downtown. During the car show, you’ll want to stop by HG Real Estate, 52 N. Main St. and sample the homemade pies baked by the Three Rivers Woman’s Club. Pies will be on sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., or until they are sold out. All receipts are put toward scholarships for local students.
The Water Festival wouldn’t be complete without the Three Rivers Lions Club Ox Roast. The Ox Roast used to be held next to the old hospital on Spring Street. Now, everyone is invited to stop by the Lions Service Center, 420 Sixth Ave. all three days of Water Festival. Outdoor seating is available, or you can use their drive-thru and order takeout. Hours for the Ox Roast are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and Saturday hours are from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., or until they are sold out. The Lions Club hasn’t raised their prices since 2023. The menu consists of Ox Roast Sandwiches, hot dogs, ham and bean soup, dill pickles, slices of apple and cherry pie, chips, pop and water. All profits are put toward future community projects. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about Lions Club membership opportunities.
